Question about doing laundry in an apartment complex?

Raven Purl: Well the building I live in has a shared laundry room. There are about 9 apartments in the building. There are two washers and two dryers for us all to use. I just go to the laundromat because someone i ALWAYS using the washer or dryer....or their load is done but they leave it siiting there for hours. It's safe but annoying.

Houston Venezia: As with all things, some people are great, some aren't. Until you get to know your neighbours, don't leave your laundry alone. I always took a chair and a book with me, and sat down there for a couple of hours once a week, and washed and dried all my laundry. That way I didn't have to deal with my clothes being thrown on the floor in the middle of the wash cycle or whatever.

Thomas Riner: I used to live in a complex where you did laundry in community washer and dryers for the most part if you keep on top of your clothes your good, or you got the creeps that will go through your clothes and steal things.

Walter Scordino: Ouch. I put new expensive sheets into a shared dryer and discovered some nut job had left a crayon in there. Thereafter, I was careful. I never left laundry alone, always checked the drums to see if something was left behind, and chose a time when others weren't likely to be using the machines, like 6 am Saturday mornings. The sad truth is that some people simply don't respect your things. It was the best I could do, expense-wise, at the time. Later I learned that I could go to a commercial laundramat, same time, 6 am Saturday, and do several loads all at one time, decreasing my laundry time for the week. Do the best you can. Just be careful. This to shall pass....Show more
