Rakim vs Big Pun who's better lyrically?

Devon Kalberer: Rakim Allah.

Cherry Stampka: I tell this to everyone that debates between Rakim and someone else...If it wasn't for Rakim, rap would have not evolved as it did in the 90's and a whole plethora of rappers wouldn't have sounded the same. That being said, Puns delivery was one of the best EVER in Hip Hop. His verbal tenacity and dexterity was/is unmatched save for a handful of emcees... Still I'll give it a draw because of the following...The Dream Shatterer - Big PunFollow the Leader - Rakim...Show more

Hwa Waterford: RakimConsidering he doesn't switch **** up that much topically (at least as far as his solo **** goes), his lyricism is damn impressive (not to mention relentless) and stands out that bit more than others. The fact that Ra's discography eclipses Pun's in depth makes this competition close to a no-brainer...Pun was obviously far from a slouch lyrically but there was an every so slightly derivative pattern to his wordplay, punchlines ! etc.... I'm sure he would have evolved over time had he not passed away so suddenly but we're not dealing in hypotheticals unfortunately...Listening to Rakim is like reading a beautifully written textbook with each chapter similar in all but wording... A strangely commendable feat....Show more

Ninfa Asby: Yes I agree with what's been said

Nell Dipiero: rakim..listen to new york (ya out there)..he got the most complex rhymes scemes than any rapper..when i be on the mic,its been a long time, guess whos back just a few examples..not saying pun aint lyrical..but rakim is the best

Ty Kirton: Close, slight edge to pun imo. but ra came out and changed the game, much respect. Both top 10 emcees with the god as my goat

Francisco Schonhardt: Little d did ale did we know that we would run into middle men that didn't do didaley
