is this global warming or global cooling?

Daria Verfaillie: this year we have too much rain that we didn't get used to it and it is cold even today, is cold and glooming. i was wondering if this is global cooling or warming?>>How come you were not giving us weather reports last year when California was having an extreme heat wave?If you leave out the unusually hot days, and only focus on the cold days, then you will create a false impression of coldness. It is like a sports commentator only talking about the times a great baseball player struck out....Show more

Geraldo Mccalla: Neither. That's called weather.

Kenneth Thuesen: May grey and June gloom are normal for San Diego. But yes, it's cold and gloomy where I live today, when it's normally well into the 90s come May. There's definitely global cooling going on, and it has nothing to do with man-made pollution.

Tomi Vauters: Neither. You're talking about local weather. This is global warming.http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.A2.! lr...Here's a graph of San Diego's temperatures over the past 130 years, by the way.http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/gistemp_...As you can see there's a lot of year-to-year variation. But the long-term trend is clearly one of warming, just like the rest of the planet....Show more

Darnell Cutliff: it is also feezing here in Europe since the end of Winter but the Alarmunists say that's just weatherFunny how the Alarmunists told us that the heat waves of 2000-2007 were all related to Global Warming but now the current big freeze is just weather.... Hmmm!

Jimmie Doerfler: It's called climate change (previously global warming). You fail to comprehend "global". While the earth as a whole is experience warming due to human activity, the local effects can be seen as wild fluctuations. You need to take a global view (almost impossible for Americans, who are afflicted by a cultural myopia). The world is warming

Kiersten Clayburn: It's called weather. But i! f the "climate scientists" have their way, they'll use whateve! r it is to make you afraid and promote their political agenda.

Gaston Edgcomb: Hi Sarah,Sorry to hear it’s cold and gloomy where you are. There’s a 40% chance of rain tomorrow but after that the rest of the week looks like there will be a good deal of sunshine and temperatures at the norm for this time of year. It’s not possible to say that this is the cause of global warming or cooling because it’s over such a short period of time. What you’re experiencing is down to the weather, this is dictated by local factors. To determine what effect climate change is having it’s necessary to look at changes over many years. Here’s a graph showing average temperatures in San Diego since 1880 http://www.flickr.com/photos/trevorandclaire/46164... You can see that in the mid 20th century temperatures rose quite a lot but in the last 20 years they’ve levelled off. What you’ll note from the graph is that today’s temps are about 1.85°C higher than they were 100 y! ears ago. You could say that this is the global warming effect for the San Diego region....Show more

Bob Pucella: This is VERY typical weather for San Diego in May. May and June are the cloudiest months in San Diego. While San Diego had more rain this year than it's had for the past 3 or 4 years, it is actually running very slightly behind normal (10.52" since July1, normal to date is 10.64"). The next few days will be a bit cooler than usual, due to the passage of a late season trough nearby. Blame it on El Nino. Global warming actually refers to global mean temperatures--some years in any particular place it will be warmer than normal, some years cooler. That's what makes it weather. Average global temperatures are still rising.May and June are good months to bail out of San Diego--head for the desert, it will be warm out there, but not hot, at least not for the next few days....Show more

Felicitas Phildor: I think it is not global cooling because youa! re living in a specific area and weather of just this area is cool.migh! t be weather of all other parts of world be hot so its not global cooling....
